About this Qualification
WJEC has a Short Course and a Single Award with the 2 units of the short course a subset of the 4 unit single award. Our specifications are assessed by a mixture of exams (40%) and controlled assignment (60%) to give a flexible, up to date qualification which will engage learners. Text books have been published by Hodder and Folens along with a Teachers' Guide to support delivery.
For schools in Wales, WJEC has identified an overlap in terms of skills between WJEC GCSE ICT and the Essential Skills Wales ICT qualifications. Candidates submitting the unit 2 Controlled Task will meet the requirements of both with a little extra documentation.
The new Controlled Tasks, Teacher Instructions and the datafile (unit 2), for submission in summer 2016 or summer 2017, for both Unit 2 and Unit 4 can be downloaded below.
All relevant controlled assessment materials are available on the Related Documents page.
