Extended Project Level 3
‘EPQs, which are worth half an A level, are increasingly popular with top universities. Bristol, Manchester, Southampton and Leeds are among a growing number prepared to lower their A-level grade requirements if applicants get an A or A* for their EPQ.’- The Times, 3rd January 2019
Our Level 3 Extended Project Qualification is available to learners in England, Wales, Northern Ireland, British Forces Overseas centres and British Overseas centres as a stand-alone qualification. It is a one-unit qualification that is internally assessed and externally moderated. Centres have the option of using the free online e-submission platform for the Extended Project.
The Extended Project may be developed from one or more of the learner's study programmes or from a topic of personal interest. The Extended Project may be based on a variety of formats and contexts, e.g. dissertation, field investigation, artefact, design or a performance. Learners are supported throughout the process by a supervisor and a teaching and learning programme.
The qualification offers centres flexible timetabling options. Learners will have more choice over their studies than ever and an opportunity to develop useful transferable skills, highly valued in higher education and employment. The flexible nature of the qualification also encourages cross-curricular activities providing opportunities for collaboration between faculties and departments within the centres.
The Extended Project qualification will be available for the June series only for all centres.
